Zahra - The Radiant Orange & Silver Filigree Wall Charger

This spectacular wall charger is a vibrant testament to the master craftsmanship found in the heart of Fez. A base of earthenware ceramic is coated in a brilliant, fiery orange glaze that seems to glow from within. This radiant surface serves as the backdrop for an elaborate, lace-like overlay of hand-cut and engraved nickel silver (maillechort). The creation of this piece is a collaborative effort between potters and metalworkers. Once the ceramic base is fired and glazed, a skilled metalsmith meticulously crafts the overlay. Using traditional tools, they hammer, cut, and engrave every millimeter of the silver alloy with ancient Moorish geometric and floral motifs. The metal is then carefully fitted and secured onto the ceramic body, creating a seamless and durable work of art.
