The Narrative

The Soul of the Object

This magnificent wall charger is a testament to the master craftsmanship found in the ancient medinas of Morocco. The piece is defined by its dramatic, multi-layered scalloped rim, resembling a blooming flower, which frames a complex central medallion of classic Islamic geometric geometry. The entire surface is a dazzling interplay of texture and light, created through a painstaking combination of techniques.

Crafted from a base of German silver (a nickel alloy prized for its luster), the artisan has applied miles of delicate filigree wire to create raised borders and patterns. Within this metallic framework, hundreds of hand-cut and polished pieces of camel bone are inlaid, their creamy whiteness contrasting beautifully with the metal. Vibrant accents of red, blue, and yellow enamel beads are studded throughout the design, adding jewel-like pops of color that catch the eye.

Originating from the renowned workshops of Fes, this charger is not merely a decorative object but a piece of cultural history. It represents weeks of dedicated labor by a skilled 'Maalem' (master craftsman). Traditionally used as a centerpiece in a Moroccan salon to reflect light and symbolize hospitality, this substantial piece is ready to be hung, bringing a touch of exotic North African elegance to any interior.

"Every imperfection tells a story of human hands at work."
