The Soul of the Object
Transport yourself to the ancient medina of Fez with this magnificent ceremonial platter, a true masterpiece of Moroccan artisanry. This substantial piece is not merely decorative but a testament to centuries-old techniques passed down through generations of 'Maalems' (master craftsmen). It is designed to be a captivating centerpiece or a striking wall hanging that commands attention in any setting.
Hand-forged from solid brass, the platter's surface is a canvas for a dazzling display of meticulous inlay work. Hundreds of individually shaped pieces of ethically sourced camel bone have been painstakingly set into the metal to create hypnotic geometric and floral arabesques. Each bone segment is further detailed with delicate black engravings, adding depth and contrast to the design. The central star motif radiates outwards, framed by a complex border of intertwining patterns.
The opulent design is brought to life with the addition of genuine red coral and vibrant turquoise stones, set like jewels within the bone and metal lattice. These colorful accents catch the light, adding a regal splendor to the piece. The brass rim is itself adorned with chased patterns, providing a perfect finish. This platter is a tangible piece of Moroccan heritage, embodying the soul and skill of its maker.
"Every imperfection tells a story of human hands at work."
