The Narrative

The Soul of the Object

This mesmerizing circular tabletop is a masterwork of Moroccan Zellige, featuring an intricate, radiating Islamic geometric pattern. Anchored by a central multi-pointed star in deep cobalt blue and white, the design expands outward in concentric layers of complex tessellations, utilizing a rich palette of turquoise, saffron yellow, burgundy red, and emerald green glazed tiles. The entire piece is framed by a structured border of repeating geometric motifs, creating a sense of infinite order and beauty. Handcrafted in the historic medina of Fez, this piece represents the pinnacle of the Zellige tradition. Each individual tile is hand-chiseled from glazed terracotta by a master artisan, known as a 'maâlem', using a sharp hammer called a 'menqach'. The countless tiny pieces are then assembled upside down in a reverse-mosaic technique before being set in a durable cement and resin backing, ensuring both artistic integrity and structural longevity. This tabletop is more than just furniture; it is a piece of architectural history that brings the soulful ambiance of a traditional Moroccan riad courtyard to any setting. It is perfectly suited as a vibrant centerpiece for an outdoor patio, a bohemian garden corner, or as a striking accent table indoors. Due to the handmade nature of the Zellige, slight imperfections in the glaze and cut are inherent, adding to its authentic character and charm.

"Every imperfection tells a story of human hands at work."
