The Soul of the Object
Bring the opulent spirit of a Moroccan palace into your home with the Zahra Amphora. This monumental vase is a masterwork of mixed-media craftsmanship, hailing from the historic artisan workshops of Fes. It begins as a hand-thrown ceramic vessel, painted in traditional cobalt blue and white patterns. This base is then painstakingly encased in a gleaming sheath of nickel silver (maillechort), which is hand-embossed and filigreed with hypnotic arabesque and geometric motifs.
The true glory of this piece lies in its adornments. Hundreds of hand-carved, teardrop-shaped pieces of ethically sourced camel bone are inlaid into the metal framework, creating a striking contrast of texture and color. Further embellishing the design are vibrant cabochons of red, turquoise, and yellow stones, adding jewel-toned accents that catch the light. The flared rim is finished with a detailed metal border, completing the vessel's regal silhouette.
More than just a decorative object, this vase is a testament to centuries-old techniques passed down through generations of Maalems (master craftsmen). Each element, from the clay molding to the final metal polish, is performed by hand, making every Zahra Amphora a unique and irreplaceable work of art. It stands as a powerful statement piece, perfect for an entryway, a grand dining table, or as the centerpiece of a sophisticated living room.
"Every imperfection tells a story of human hands at work."
