The Soul of the Object
Bring the timeless elegance of Moroccan artistry into your home with this exquisite Zellige mosaic table. The tabletop is a stunning display of traditional geometric design, featuring a radiating starburst pattern composed of thousands of individually hand-cut tiles in a sophisticated palette of black, creamy off-white, and warm tan. Each tile is placed with precision, creating a mesmerizing visual rhythm that draws the eye and captivates the imagination. The intricate pattern is a testament to the centuries-old techniques preserved by master artisans.
Handcrafted in the historic city of Fez, the heart of Moroccan Zellige, this table is a labor of love. A 'maâlem' (master craftsman) painstakingly chips each glazed clay tile into precise shapes using a small hammer, a process known as 'zellige'. These tiny tesserae are then assembled upside down in a mold before being bound together with cement and resin, resulting in a durable and unique surface. No two tables are exactly alike, carrying the distinct touch of the artisan who created it.
The heavy mosaic top rests securely on a hand-forged wrought iron base, finished in a classic black to complement the tilework. The base features elegant curves and sturdy legs, providing both stability and a graceful silhouette. Perfect for a breakfast nook, a conservatory, or as a striking patio piece, this table is built to withstand the elements while adding a touch of exotic luxury to any setting.
"Every imperfection tells a story of human hands at work."
