The Soul of the Object
This stunning circular tabletop is a masterpiece of Moroccan Zellige craftsmanship, featuring a mesmerizing explosion of geometric patterns. At its heart lies a complex radiating star motif in turquoise, deep blue, burgundy, and mustard yellow, encircled by an intricate lattice of interlocking rosettes and polygons. The vibrant color palette is framed by a serene turquoise border, making it a captivating focal point for any space.
Handcrafted in the historic city of Fez, this piece represents weeks of meticulous labor by skilled artisans known as Maâlems. Each individual tile is hand-chiseled from Glazed Natural Clay using a small hammer-like tool called a 'ferrach' to achieve precise, interlocking shapes. These tiny pieces are then assembled upside down in a reverse mosaic technique before being set permanently into a sturdy cement base, creating a perfectly smooth yet wonderfully tactile surface.
More than just furniture, this Zellige tabletop is a piece of living history, embodying centuries of Moorish artistic tradition. Its durable construction makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, perfect as a distinctive garden table, a chic bistro table on a balcony, or an artistic statement piece in a living room. Bring the timeless elegance and vibrant soul of Morocco into your home with this functional work of art.
"Every imperfection tells a story of human hands at work."
