The Narrative

The Soul of the Object

This magnificent circular tabletop is a masterwork of Moroccan Zellige, a centuries-old tradition of mosaic tilework perfected in cities like Fez. The design features a complex, radiating Islamic geometric pattern, anchored by a central starburst in warm reds and yellows that explodes outwards into an intricate lattice of deep blues, turquoise, emerald greens, and crisp white. A distinct geometric border frames the entire composition, containing the dynamic energy of the central motif. Handcrafted by skilled artisans, or 'maâlems', the process begins with raw clay, glazed and fired into colorful tiles. Each tiny geometric shape is then painstakingly hand-chiseled from these tiles using a sharp hammer, a technique requiring immense precision and patience. The pieces are laid upside down in a negative mold before being bound together with cement, resulting in a durable and perfectly smooth surface that reveals the vibrant pattern upon turning. More than just furniture, this tabletop is a piece of architectural history. Its robust construction makes it suitable as a stunning dining table for indoor spaces or a resilient feature piece for a garden patio. The vibrant glazed colors are weather-resistant, ensuring the intricate beauty of the geometric cosmos endures for generations.

"Every imperfection tells a story of human hands at work."
