The Narrative

The Soul of the Object

This stunning decorative platter is a masterwork of Fassi craftsmanship, born from the ancient medina of Fes, Morocco. It represents a harmonious marriage of two distinct artisanal traditions: the renowned blue and white ceramic pottery and the meticulous art of metal overlay. Starting as a hand-thrown clay vessel, it is first painted with traditional cobalt blue arabesque and geometric designs against a brilliant white glaze, a signature of Fes pottery. Following the firing process, skilled metalworkers take over, painstakingly applying a decorative overlay of polished nickel silver (maillechort). This metalwork traces the painted patterns, creating a raised, textured filigree effect that catches the light and adds a layer of opulent detail, finished with small decorative studs along the rim. The central design is a complex, interlacing geometric star, radiating outwards in a hypnotic blend of ceramic and metal. This versatile piece serves equally well as a luxurious serving platter for dry goods at a banquet or as a breathtaking centerpiece hung on a wall, instantly adding a touch of Moroccan royal elegance to any space.

"Every imperfection tells a story of human hands at work."
