The Soul of the Object
Bring the timeless elegance of a Moroccan riad into your home with this magnificent oval dining table. The tabletop is a stunning example of traditional Zellige art, featuring a complex interplay of flowing arabesque vines, floral motifs, and central geometric stars in a vibrant palette of cobalt blue, emerald green, terracotta, and saffron yellow against a crisp white background. The entire design is framed by a classic blue and white braided rope border, adding a defined finish to the organic shapes within. Handcrafted in the historic medina of Fes, this table represents hundreds of hours of meticulous labor by master artisans known as Maâlems. Each individual tile (furmah) is hand-chiseled from glazed terracotta clay to fit perfectly into the intricate puzzle. The tiles are laid face-down in a mold before being set with cement, resulting in a durable, solid slab that showcases the slight imperfections and texture unique to handmade pottery. This substantial table is designed to be the centerpiece of a dining room, conservatory, or a covered patio. Its elongated oval shape offers ample seating while softening the lines of a room. It is a functional work of art that connects your living space directly to the rich architectural heritage of North Africa.
"Every imperfection tells a story of human hands at work."
